Apartheid Regime in Israel
Today, apartheid is understood as "any form of ethnic or racial segregation in which the power of the state in a country is abused to restrict the social and civil rights of a group". Under the Rome Statute of the International Court of Justice, apartheid is a "crime against humanity" under Article 7. It does not require a great intellectual achievement to recognize the policies of the ruling political class in Israel as apartheid policies towards Palestinians.
The UN General Assembly, in its Resolution 3379 on November 10, 1975, had also described Zionism as a form of racism and put Israel in a row with South Africa and Rhodesia. This formulation was withdrawn on December 16, 1991 under pressure from Israel, which had made its participation in the 1991 Madrid Peace Conference dependent on it.
The propaganda of the ruling political class in Israel and all profiteers of its apartheid policy have managed to ensure that any criticism of the policy of apartheid in Israel is suspected of being anti-Semitic and is often sanctioned. When it comes to the victims of this apartheid policy, the euphemism "discrimination" is therefore usually used abroad. But "discrimination" is not a crime against humanity. The de facto toleration of the apartheid policy by the international community of states is an ongoing scandal.
All the more gratifying is the UN report of 2017 entitled: "Israeli Practices towards the Palestinian People and the Question of Apartheid". It literally states: "This report establishes, on the basis of scholarly inquiry and overwhelming evidence, that Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid", ibid.S. 51 It could not be formulated more clearly: with overwhelming evidence it can be proven that Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid.
The policy of apartheid reached an inglorious climax when the "Jewish Nation State Law" passed in 2018 and Israel was declared a state exclusively "for Jewish people". The approximately seventeen percent Palestinians living in Israel were thus de jure excluded.
